What's happened with the Norse girlfriend of the Arab? (or in the book?)

What has happened with the Norsen girlfriend of Arab? (or in the book?)
Anybody knows? Their relationship plot line seems abruptly undeveloped.
Did she travel with him or what? And why not?
They have looks and so.
This part is left unfinished, and unsatisfying.

I never saw it as a romance or even a relationship. I think she was offered to the stranger as a courtesy as some cultures were in the habit of doing.

I could be a morning person if morning happened at noon.

There wasn't a relationship in the book. He did not find their women attractive.
