Why did Herger stay behind?

He killed one of the Prince's henchmen, a Prince who apparently killed his own brothers to clear a line to the throne. I wouldn't have stuck around if my mates were leaving.

In The Book He kills the Prince and rothgar doesnt want any of them to leave.

Keep calm and Carry on

And that is how he got the name Herger the Joyous.

Hmmm, guess I have to re-watch this and pay attention to that scene. I always assumed that Herger had just seen Ahmed onto another Viking ship for passage back to where he came from or to where he wanted to go and was just saying goodbye. I pictured the rest of the surviving 13 back at King Rhothgar's place drinking it up and partying with the village women. I didn't see any of them on the ship but then I guess I wasn't looking for them either.
