My favorite filmed version of the Cinderella story is The Slipper and the Rose: The Story of Cinderella (1976).

It's terrific! Music by the Sherman Brothers who did Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang bang. The dance sequences are energetic and such fun, and what an incredible cast. But perhaps most impressive is the costuming. Such luxury. They must have had a tremendous budget to make so much from scratch, and with such detail and accuracy.

Personally, i love this one, but also used to watch the rogers and hammersteins version with whitney houston and bernadette peters on videotape when i was a child. I never watched the disney version in its entirety until around the time of its live action remake- which was also pretty good too:)
