Why did the flies have to be done in detail?

I mean none of the other insects were done in detail. I adore this movie, but can't watch it because of the flys :/ . they are so scarry.

really? how were they a homage? thats interesting. Yea. Shortly after I developed my fear, my dad had me watch the fly because he thought it would help...it didn't.
