Why the low rating?

I was coming to this page, expecting it to at least be a 8.3.

I can't see why...this movie has everything. Great animation, excellent plot, and memorable characters. It deserves to be at least in the top 5.

So you haven't seen the three Toy Story movies, Monster's Inc., Cars, and the Incredibles, right? So that actually leaves six others.

I think the plot is really bad and tired.

I hate hate hate hate hate, when people assume characters are something they are not. Mistaken identity is one of the worst devices in films.
Second, the grasshopper mob thing was really bad too. Ants being afraid and so on. It really seemed like a stretch. Ants are a force to be reckoned with. They have been for millions of years.

It did have good characters and animation though. Still, I think the story is kind of weak.

Because the plot is derivative. It is simply a well-written version of 3 Amigos -with bugs. The villain is great, but the supporting cast is serviceable. If A Bug's Life wasn't so cute and charming, the ratings would be even lower.

I adore this movie; it's about as perfect as it can be. Gets a 10 from me. :/ I'll never understand why it's so underrated, either.

I don't get it either. It's not the best Pixar movie, but it's better than any of the movies after The Incredibles. Gave it a 9/10.
