Atta is such a bitch
She is just mean to Flik. I hate her.

I agree with both of you, 100%.
Even when I was little I hated her... and I loved EVERY character (that wasn't the villain) in any movie when I was little. That's saying something.
Yes, it's great to be a strong female lead, and possibly a BIT b*tchy like Jasmine, but Atta went to the extreme with b*tchiness...
*Do not cry because it's over; Smile because it happened.*
in bugs life 2, dot is the princess and atta is the queen but flik might be a prince but not just hopper

I couldnt stand her either! Ugh the way she just watched Flick get beat up with everyone else pissed me off
"Because I knew you, I have been changed...for good."
I know. She didn't even care that her little sister could have been torn to shreds by Thumper, after the beginning. At least Flik took a stand for her (even if he did back down right after, which really bothered me), and he gets b*tched at for it.
shareTo be fair, she's voiced by Elaine from "Seinfeld".

I was almost hoping someone would eat her during the whole film. I just rewatched it again last night and was like
. . .
Why the HELL is he in love with her?
I'll always feel, no more than halfway real. Till I hear you sing once more
She's a bitch for 90% of the movie, but she redeems herself all the way at the end by standing up for Flick and saving him from Hopper at non-trivial risk to her own life.
There's a plan in everything, kid. And I love it when a plan comes together!
Eh,
I still resent her. She needs to do more before I could get to the point of ignoring all her bitchy behavior. I think it was easy then, Flick stood up for her sister twice. Then took an ass kicking for them all after he tried to save them,
Her whole colony was ready to go *beep* when she finally decided to do something after Flick was nearly beaten into a coma and he gave that speech that made them have an aha moment.
I'll always feel, no more than halfway real. Till I hear you sing once more
I guess I'm the only one who likes her...:( I can understand her reactions; she's under so much pressure trying to learn to take over the entire colony and Flik kept making things worse for a good while-not his fault but SHE'S the one who has to take responsibility every time he screws up. It's kinda understandable why she gets pissed at him. He DID lie to her about the bugs too.
But remember, she threw herself in front of Flik when Hopper was going to squish him, risking her own life to save him. I think that redeems any bitchy qualities she may have had! The reason she didn't go stop Hopper earlier was because she was protecting the children.
Hey, it's the "mori no otomodachi!!
^ I agree with chiibiprincess's post. I didn't mind Atta; her bitchiness was totally understandable in her position.
"Couldn't care less" = "don't care at all"
"Could care less" = "care at least a little"
Well, to her defense, she was a perfectionist and tried to do the best for the colony, which technically was in danger. So with in that consideration, it wasn't strange that she was such a bitch. However, she did became less bitchy towards the end.
While that being said, I didn't like Atta either. I thought she was extremely annoying and unlikeable.
I didn't like the way she treated the circus bugs. Even before they found out they weren't warriors she was giving them the nasty eyes.
I also didn't like the way how, after saying how the ants wouldn't survive in the big wide world, mentioning birds and other big bugs that might harm them she was perfectly willing to send Flik out on his own there solely to get him out of the way.
Atta "bitchiness" as people keep pointing out, was due to anxiety, stress, and fear. She's in training to be queen, worrying about having food for the whole colony, meeting Hopper's demands, having plans to go to war, concerned about the oncoming rainy season, and doubtful about Flik's capabilities since it seems like he's a regular screwup. So yeah, she was moody. But her attitude changed she the situation changed. She became friendly, optimistic, and caring. That was the real her. We simply caught Atta on her "bad days". You handle all that pressure at once and see how perky you can be. She could have been a lot worse.
As for her treatment of Flik, yes, she was rather mean to him, she even acknowledges this and apologies for it. But think of all I just said. And now throw in someone that keeps causing problems, always interfering, and constantly making things worse. You're more than likely to get snippy with them. She was mean to Flik mostly because he was making everything more difficult for her. Also, she didn't send him out into the dangerous world, Flik was happy and voluntarily going. She was giving him what he wanted, but if you still want to hold that against her, than you have to hold it against the entire colony who was happy to see him go.
As for the circus bugs, her initial attitude towards them was due to doubt. Flik's ideas and judgment have proved to be questionable and unreliable before (all the time it seems). Everything he thought was helpful and a good idea only made things worse. Would you trust the judgment of someone like that? So yes, she doubted the circus bugs, and probably felt like they were wasting valuable time to meet Hopper's already unreasonable demands. And then when Flik found out the truth and began acting suspicious, it increased her doubt even more.
Overall, I think everyone is too judgmental about Atta and her character is misunderstood.
Apologizes for it????
No, she most certainly does not apologize for the way she treats him.
It takes one to spot one.
shareNo, she most certainly does not apologize for the way she treats him.
I don't think you watched the movie if you're going to go as far to say she didn't apologize. Because she most definitely did.
shareWhen!?! When the hell did that bitch say I'm sorry? I heard her say "I'm proud of you, Flick." That's not the same thing as "I;m sorry for hurting your feelings, throwing you out when you were trying to help me and my colony..."
share(After they leave Francis, who is in a cast, with the circus bugs)
Atta: Flik, I owe you an apology.
Flik: For what?
Atta: Well, I haven't been that nice to you, and I'm sorry. If there's any way I can make it up to you..
Yeah. You really didn't watch this film.
No, YOU didn't my friend but nice try.
share*shm...omg......you are so delusional, you are willfully ignorant of the evidence right in front of you. And by the way, A Bug's Life is my favorite Pixar movie so I know full well what I'm talking about. You on the other hand, do not.
Blocking you.
