I don't know about Iwo Jima, they aren't all holding up the stickbug. I assumed it was sort of a Conan/King Arthur thing. The girl bug is down by the male bug who's pulling the stickinsect out of the trash like he is excalibur. Frank Fanzetti did alot of scenes with a woman laying at the feet of a barbarian hero holding a weapon too, so that's the connect with Conan that I see.
