I laughed, too! Saw this last night for the first time.

I didn't laugh but I definitely noticed it.
shareI read this thread, and I desperately wanted to find this funny scene so I could laugh at it!
I found it, but I didn't find it funny. I guess it was too self-explanatory. I mean, he was saying, 'Don't touch me. don't pretend to help me. It's too late for that.'
Don't you think?
No, it was sad.

That's the feeling I got. He already had to kowtow to the crown for his pardon and wasn't in the mood for any more of their BS.
shareHe looked so incredibly defeated. At his age, what did he have left to look forward to in the outside world? What was the point? The poor thing probably didn't have much longer left to live, anyway.

No I actually felt bad for him and saw him slapping their hands off him as a powerful thing. He had served his time or most of it, was now an old man and had been pardoned. He was walking out a free man. And had years of men controlling him and putting their hands on him to guide him around and maybe even beat him up. He figured as he was walking out free there was no longer any reason for guards or police to put their hands on him. It was a powerful statement. So I didn't laugh, I took it pretty seriously.
