The movie goes from Brandon Fraiser running away into the desert, to the introduction of Rachel Weisz, to Fraiser being in a random prison with long hair and Weisz knows some random Arab dude who's going to hang him.

What the hell happened?

There was a subtitle that said "3 years later" between those scenes.

That screams rewrite. Like a screening went poorly and the execs made them speed it up to get to the action.
