I never saw it when it came out. Has it held up well over the last 19 years, or is it dated and hokey already?

It’s a PERIOD film.
It doesn’t get “dated” like Tim Burton’s Batman films with Prince and MC Hammer music.
Personally, it still holds up for me. Just a fun adventure action film. Apart from a few moments, the CGI also still holds up.

The film is still excellent and, in my opinion at least, is right up there with the Indiana Jones films as one of the best adventure movies of all time.
The sequels aren't really worth a shit, but the first Mummy is a classic. It's probably in my Top 10 of most rewatched films and maybe even Top 5.
