The copper/gold colored Monte Carlo

Did you notice that when the Monte Carlo was giving chase to the Camaro, it changed from a gold color to a brown color and back several times, and in one of the off road chase scenes, the body damage miraculously dissapears? Including the broken headlight that Wes mentions in his "Bediddle" game he wants to play with Sonny.

It was Gold with a Tan top

Yes, it is true the producers for Black Dog had to change Camaro's quite a bit during the movie. Black Dog triva: True or false did Brian Vincent(Wes) actually ride in the Camaro during the chase scene in the movie where the passanger's side mirror is taken off by a tree?

Any guesses on this one.

Hint, I know the answer to this one.

If you notice when they are off-road and they jump the hill right before they get back on the road the front skirt on the body kit is broke but when they get back on the road it looks like new.

This movie is cool!!!!

What's "Bediddle"?

I always thought the game was "Padiddle", not sure how that is really spelled. But I always thought it had a puh sound at the begining.

reply

it is "Padiddle". and the car looked a lot like a grand national more then a monte carlo

reply

It was a Monte Carlo SS, they have a unique front end.

My question is the Monte Carlo was originally equipped with the L69 High Output 305 that put out 190 horsepower. The Camaro featured the L98 Tuned Port 350. There is no way if both the cars were stock that the Monte would've come close to that Camaro.

Thats what i've always said THANK U!

No thank you, it's finally good to talk in RPO codes and have someone understand it...lol

Also when you see Sonny hit the gas before the Monte hits the semi, you can see a factory Radio delete plate. This means the car is a 1LE car. 1LE's had no radio or A/C but right above the radio plate there are A/C controls.....Also as far as I am aware of, they did not make a 1LE or B4C T-top car....

reply

it could have just had heater controls

I agree a stock L69 Monte SS shouldn't be able to keep up with a L98 equipped IROC but who knows what was under the Monte's hood.
On the IROC there are a few things that I've wondered about. The radio delete plate is uncommon except to 1LE and B4C cars,as you noted MYTBIRDSC89,but you could delete the standard radio for credit any year. And the temp controls for the non-A/C cars look similar and the shot isn't long enough to tell. But the 3rd brake light(CHMSTL)being in the rear spoiler in several shots makes her to be a '87.In '86 it was on top of the hatch and the 350 wan't available and '88-'92 the light was inside the hatch on IROC/Z28.RPO's 1LE and B4C weren't available in '87 but you could get T-tops and the L98 together.
Given the amount of work that was put into the roll cage in the IROC(then again it could be a Hollywood rollcage).there's no telling what amount of work went into them.To me it's just sad to destroy a very uncommon car in the IROC.I wonder how many were used for filming as the first "Smokey and the Bandit" went though 6 T/a's in filming. And seeing a bench seat Monte SS,other than the '83-'84 cars,is uncommon.Just my .02.

reply

and why was the roll cage so visable? was Sonny supposed to be some sort of street racer? (Just curious has anyone else noticed some sort of kill-switch on the bottum of the dashboard?)

reply

actually the car was a SS clone cause the true Monte carlo SS of those particular year models never had the vinyl tops on them

reply

I noticed it went from one headlight out on the right to both out on the left. Do I win a bididdle prize?
