what does this quote mean:

refering to the likelihood of Sethe having a successful delivery.

I can't quite tell you what it means exactly, but let's just say this person, like you said, plays a significant part in Sethe delivering her child.

no, I dropped the class, but I still have it and plan to read it in my spare time. Is the movie a good adaptation?

Actually, it's one the few movies that is completely faithful to its original source material.

Of course, many people don't think about that since the subject matter is so dark and disturbing, and puts a lot of people off of it.

I actually went back and read it myself recently.

The only real changes are the exclusion of some characters' thoughts from the book, but it's obvious why that was done.
