Howard and Bugler should have been cut out of the movie.

I think a lot of people got confused watching this movie because they assumed that Sethe murdered *all* of her children. They don't realize that Beloved was the only one who actually got killed -- while Howard, Bugler and Denver were merely injured.

Obviously, Denver needs to still be in the movie. But Howard and Bugler had no real impact on the plot. The first time I saw the movie, I didn't realize that Howard and Bugler had actually run away from home -- or why. It took me a couple viewings to figure that out.

To this day, I still hear this movie summarized as a story about a woman who "kills her children."

Not CHILDREN, plural! Only one child was killed!

They should have just cut out Howard and Bugler, to keep audiences from being confused.
