The chimpanzee that played Elijah was terrible.

I thought he was terribly miscast there.

It's rumoured that he slept with the director to get this role.

I've got no opinion about whether or not it was miscast, but I can safely say that I would not like to be locked up with a chimp. They're five times stronger than average humans, and they can get violent when angry.

It was pretty hot seeing Cameron tied up in a cage though.

You're entitled to your wrong opinion.

Yeah, he really needs to learn how to BE the character if he's gonna make it far in this industry.

:( Its rather sad but after the film his career went down hill. he was type cast as a Chimp. Just shows how shallow minded the directors of this world are. he could have been so much more.

Actually, after years of being typecast he turned to directing-I heard he's directing the final installment of "Dark Knight Rises". It might only be a rumor though..

He's been working on his acting though.

I heard he's being casted as Old Caesar in the next Planet of the Apes film.

Turns out he's making a comeback, he did some of the puppet work on Anomalisa.

This ruined the film for me. They mentioned a childhood trauma - baby chimps are stolen from the wild and their mothers and family killed in front of them. Many then die in transit.

I know this isn't a modern-modern film but animal rights had come a long way by '99. No primates should be used as entertainment.
