How come (or why wasn't there) any mention of 'Ian Shrager' in this film? Did the film makers/writers not have permission, or wish to pay royalties to Mr. Shrager, the co-creator of "Studio 54" and who along with "Steve Rubell" went down with the boat when they both were arrested for tax evasion.

I did some researching ... and discovered that Shrager is now some big time Hotel designer. Something both Steve Rubell and him switched to after their release from jail, and selling of "Studio 54." They both started buying Hotels and redesigning them. My guess, is the producers of "54" couldn't get the rights to use his name, nor use a character with a fictional name to fill-in Shrager's (missing) shoes in the movie.
