The 104 minute extended cut
While it isn't the infamous directors cut of this film, I think those extra 11 minutes do add something to the story. i understand why these particular scenes were cut, as they make the main character, Shane, a bit less sympathetic, and more of a sleazy guy. Scenes where he is watching himself in the mirror having sex with that woman while she was unconscious, and the scene in the toilet where he wants to let Steve Rubell watch as he has sex with his best friend's girlfriend, make Shane out to be not such a nice guy. but it makes it much more believable that this guy would not be the angel that the cut version portrayed him to be. And the opening scene where he is screwing the jersey girl in his car strengthens the back story to who he was before he became "Shane 54,' and lets the audience know that he was just an average guy in the beginning. It was interesting to see those scenes after so many years. i really hope that the original cut makes it to dvd someday, because those scenes/storylines that they filmed after the fact are the weak links that ruin the movie.
