Makes Studio 54 having looked tame

This film is riddled with problems. Lousy script. Sophomoric acting.

Don’t even get me started on the music.

But, really, my biggest problem with it is the fact it makes Studio 54 having looked tame.

Maybe it was? Weren't there sex clubs around that time?

This was not the film the director shot. The studio demanded it be toned-down and de-gayified in hopes of pulling in the 13 year-old girl mall audience such a film was never going to get anyway.

This was a bad film, but what you say rings true. I saw this on its opening run in 1998, and the theatre was filled with squealing teen age girls.

But this film was so bad, I can't imagine another cut could redeem it. The screenplay is just plain awful.

I have to agree. Bad, bad film.

Where to start? The tacked on screenplay, with a bunch of characters which are meant to seem relevant, falls flat on its face. Bad acting, and a distracting screenplay is what we get to tell us the story of Studio 54. What a letdown.

I saw this when it ran in theaters, at a time when disco was making a huge retro comeback with kids. The place was filled with squealing 16-17 year old girls.

I walked out halfway through in 1998, and just recently saw the end. Its even worse than I could have imagined.

This film seems like a money grab, 'The Last Days of Disco' got it right.
