That old lady was annoying. I felt bad when she died but part of me was like "hey that's what happens when people take drugs and stay up all night, esp. if you're a hundred." I hate when old people try too hard to be young and hip. It looks silly, have some dignity.

I agree with you about the drugs but the point was that she was living her life the way she wanted to live it. She wanted to dance all night every night and regardless of the consequences, she had a fun time to the very end.

Back to the subject of the thread; disco Dottie, regardless of what people think of her, was a real person, an old lady that partied at 54 with the celebs and crazies! in fact her age was what made her noticed, because she was such an oddball.

The book 'The Last Party' has pics of her.
Yes and No. The real "Disco Sally"- pictured in Anthony Haden-Guest's book The Last Party was a senior citizen and a Studio regular, like "Disco Dottie". That is all that they have in common. "Sally" was not noted for her profanity, sexually suggestive comments, or excessive drug use. That was artistic license on the part of the film's writer & director. "Sally's" death had nothing to do with Studio, and she not a victim of hedonistic excess as portrayed in the film. In her early 80s at the peak of Studio's popularity, she lived for almost 10 more years after the club closed.
She and her deceased husband were both successful lawyers. She was simply an open-minded old lady who loved to dance and mingle with the colorful crowd at Studio. Marc Benecke (doorman) & Steve Rubell thought she was a great character to add to the "tossed salad" of clientele.

hahaha she wanted to live the rest of her life the way she wanted to, and of course that was bound to happen with all the drugs she was doing. So your little 'Ha! in her face' remark is a little redundant.
People are going to act, dress and talk how they want. No matter what age they are. So learn to deal with it because no matter how much you complain it's never going to change.

Out there on the dance floor, with the lights & music & people dancing their hearts out, feeling the souls around you becoming one with each other. Yea, can't really think of a better way to go. Sign me up. I just hope I've got the strength to get out there one last time on the floor & move to the music until I drop like Dottie.

I thought Dottie/Mona was silly, but lovable all the same. She may have been the most likeable character on there. I thought it was sweet of her to help 'Shane' in the chemist with a few dollars.
Most of the people depicted in this film were of repulsive, slimy, self-obsessed character. Greg and Dottie had heart.
I was so sad when Disco Dottie died.
