Disco Dottie
Was she a real character - I guess so. What was her background - does anyone know?

shareShe was based on "Disco Sally", a real life 75+ year old Studio regular. Can't recall her real name off hand, but she was one of the first female lawyers in NYC.
Like several of the bizarre and annoying fabrications of the film, she was neither a junkie nor died anytime or anywhere near Studio 54. As a matter of fact, "Sally" lived for another ten years after the club initially closed, passing on in the late 1980s.
There are pictures and stories about her in every book about Studio 54. Check out Anthony Haden-Guest's "The Last Party", Bobby Miller's "Fabulous! a photographic diary of Studio 54" or Niels Krummer's "Studio 54: The Legend" for more detail.
Hope this helps.
Thanks so much for the info!
shareDisco Dottie was played by actress Ellen Albertini Dow. She passed away on May 4, 2015 at the age of 101.
