Did People Really.......?
...have sex like that, in public in the club? I cannot believe that people were actually having sex out in the open like that. Simply amazing.

i wouldn't know so i can't answer your question, but try 'googling' it and you would probably be able to find out if any of the strange obsceneties happened at Studio 54.
I may be schizophrenic but at least i have each other
Yes. Read Please Kill me: the Uncensored Oral History of Punk. There were Vaseline bars in 60s/70s New York, with jars of Vaseline on the bar (you can imagine its purpose, I hope).

Thank you. I will definitely try to find that book. It's just amazing to me how people could have sex out in the open like that....no shame at all.
Hell To The Naw!!!!
I forgot to mention Janice Dickinson's book too, "No Lifeguard on Duty: The Accidental Life of the World's First Supermodel." She talks a lot about 54 in that book... from her account it seems like the movie was actually pretty accurate!

Umm. People still are, in some places.

Yeah... Actually it's quite common in the usual "party-islands" in Europe, like Ayia Napa in Cyprus or Kos in Greece.
Been there, seen that. Might raise your eyebrows at first but that's how it goes.
I'm from Sweden if someone was wondering.
Yep, been there, saw it more than once. The Saint had sex going on in the balcony all the time, probably helped spread HIV which led to many gay guys dying of AIDS. Great club though, better dance floor & sound system than 54.
shareMy friends and I used to go to The Saint, it was a place that we knew of that never ID'd girls (we were all 14-16 when we went, in the mid to late 80's, just naive little chicks from Long Island). I never saw anything of that nature, but I was only there a handful of times.
It did have a fantastic dance floor and sound system, and was much better than the clubs on L.I. that we also used to desperately try to get into (Thrush in Rockville Center and Malibu in Lido Beach).
Things were different by the mid-to-late-'80s. Way different.

You sound like one of the test audience members that originally reviewed and sank this movie. Do you reside in the Mid West by chance?
