Has anyone seen the real club?
I have never been in New York at that time. I have wondered about the real club and how the owner stashed the money. I have read about how he is realy dead.

shareIf you are interested in Studio 54 and other New York nite clubs of the time there is a great nonfiction book you should read called THE LAST PARTY, by Anthony Haden Guest, he was a regular at 54. Hope this helps...

um... Taboo was at the Plymouth theatre (now renamed the Schoenfeld), not at 54. You can go check out Threepenny Opera at 54 now however.
When I went it was at STUDIO 54.

I had gone to Studio 54 when three friends came visiting out of town and wanted to go there. I was only 17, but the doorman said he liked my look, whatever that meant, and let me and only one of my friends in. We only stayed about 15 minutes because they wouldn't let our other 2 friends in, and we didn't want to leave them waiting outside. It looked cool inside I guess, it was pretty big, lots of glitter and stuff. I did spot Bianca Jagger. LOL
shareFrom the way it sounds they open at 10 pm.Here's what it says at their website: "Tuesday - Saturday, 10 p.m. to the early morning hours."

It's a quantum leap from the men's room of CBGBs and the facilities of Studio 54. LOL
I've been to both venues, Studio 54 was more of a novelty, CBGBs is for good raw punk, new wave, and rock and roll music.
My friend and her friend went there before it became famous. (She said they only got in because her friend—a man—was gorgeous.) It’s interesting to hear her talk about it, because then it was just another club.
shareI was there in 1997 to see Gloria Estefan in concert. Of course, it's famous days were long gone by then.
