Walmart $13.00

It's sad that I just bought this whole series at Walmart for $13.00. To me it's worth so much more with all of the work that went into it. Anyone else own it?

reply

I own it. I got it from Amazon. I was just watching "That's All There Is" and "Galileo Was Right" yesterday.

The WHOLE SERIES for $13.00!!!

I got my set as soon as it was out on DVD -- long enough ago I don't have a clue what it cost. This was the first series I ever bought and I've bought only two others since then. It's just that good.

It's also a big reason why I got a DVD jukebox that holds 300 disks. It's great having all the episodes on tap.

Back in 2005 when the 1998 HBO mini-series "From the Earth to the Moon" was released on DVD the $99 price tag annoyed me. Back in January 2004 I had bought my first DVD recorder and had been dubbing my VHS tape collection onto DVD and just said I'll dub all twelve VHS episodes of "From Earth to the Moon" I got off HBO onto DVD. And that was that. ----- But last night when I did some DVD shopping at Wal-Mart I found the entire series for $13.00. an incredible price for such a great TV mini-series. ----- ----- Rusty

How's This:

$10.88 for the 5 Disc Signature Series Box Set at Sam's Club.

I felt like a thief!

Heard great things. Never saw it. Watched three episodes so far and I'm totally, totally blown away by its high quality. More theatrical movies should be this smart and thrilling. Will finish watching in the next 2 or 3 days.

Would have had no complaints on forking over 5 times that dollar amount.

*(Now up to Episode 8...keeps getting better. Also love how the stories are reflective of the years they take place. The first few chapters were wholesome type 'Leave it to Beaver' early 60's. As the saga moves into the 70's; so does the language; which represents films, at that time, breaking free of censorship. Very Nicely Done.)

I was in Wal-Mart yesterday and they had an HBO display going on and FTETTM was only $28.99 (Canadian). That's less than half of what I paid for it a couple of years ago. (I sound like a commercial! lol!)

A good deal indeed, but I can't get over the horrendous re framing job of the new DVD. I'll happily put down more money to get the older set in a decent condition.

Stop this myopic 16/9 craze!!

I bought the whole thing on VHS when it came out. It cost me over $75.00 back then but it was worth it...fantastic mini-series. Later I bought the dvd box set off ebay for $24.95, then of course walmart came out with the best deal yet.

One thing though....in the story of 1968, my version freezes at the same spot..wonder if this is why it's such a good deal at walmart too?
