I'm sorry, but every time I hear Ted Levine growl his Allen Shephard lines, I see Jame Gumb.

He also had some bad plastic surgery... must've gone to the same guy that John Travolta goes to: they both look the same around the eyes/hairline.

I was like that with the actor who played Gus Grissom... all I could see was the Sister rapist from 'The Shawshank Redemption'. Same hair and everything. Ruined the whole Apollo 1 thing for me :(

What's (mildly) amusing is that, while Ted Lavine played Alan Shepard in FTETTM, actor Scott Glenn, who played Jack Crawford in Silence of the Lambs (where Ted Lavine played Jame Gumb) played Alan Shepard in The Right Stuff!
