Woody impersonation

He does (to me) a spot on Woody impersonation-the best Woody impersonation I've seen in any of his (Woody's) movies and what takes it even to a higher level is the fact the ruddy faced, blunt featured, stolid framed Branagh looks nothing like the Woodster. Branagh looks like my Rhode Island born, Irish Catholic Uncle Joe

Two other things that struck me when I saw the movie when it came out 18 years ago.

1. Branagh is the same age as his character-38-and one plot strand is his going to his 20th high school reunion. The other people there look at least 10 years too old (which I am sure was deliberate) and I thought it was both hilarious and horrifying. Horrifying because my 20th reunion was coming up in two years and I was worried that what was what I and the rest of my fellow class of 80 alumni looked like (the fear was unfounded.)(Or I least I hope it was.)

2. In the movie the class of 78's favorite song was The Impossible Dream from the 1965 musical Man of LaMancha. That was my sophomore year and I guarantee that we were not sitting around in our bedrooms, strobe lights blazing, occasionally getting high, listening to Richard Kiley belt out show tunes. Though that probably would have sounded better than 'Baker Street'. Though not Styx's "Pieces of Eight'. Woody needed and still needs to get out more or at least do some rudimentary research.
