A bit of a rip off................

I found Wishmaster to be a little too close to Hellraiser 3 especially the party scene in the mansion when the Gjinn massacres all the guests, it was an exact copy of the club scene from Hell On Earth and also the Gjinn has too many Pinhead like lines but still at least the Gjinn looks cool and there is some very good make up effects.

Wishmaster is far better. That's all I can say.

As much as I love the Hellraiser movies, Frostrose is right... Wishmaster was far better than HR3... script, cast, acting, special effects, originality, direction... It's not perfection but it was very entertaining in my opinion.

Well, it's the same writer. So I guess he ripped off his own story.

The funny thing is when I finished watching Wishmaster, I realized that both Hellraiser 3 and Wishmaster have a Motorhead song in the end credits.

These films parallel each other almost too closely, but I think Wishmaster is just different enough to stand on it's own.

Wishmaster also reminds me of Warlock: Armageddon. That movie as well features an all powerful bad guy who walks around and kills people in creative ways. Oh and it was directed by the same guy who directed Hellraiser III.

I wouldn't call it a rip off since both movies are written by same guy. It's like telling Wes Craven's rip off his bath scene in Elm Street from Deadly Blessing, movie he also directed (and rewrote a screenplay).

I find it more similar to the Leprechaun movies since both franchises are about their villains granting "ironic" wishes. Still, I really enjoy the first two Wishmaster's.

It reminded me of the Hellraiser films as well. Those bug creatures at the party were a bit "chest burster" from Alien as well. I always enjoy this film and its many cameos.
