As many times as I've seen it, what was the real deal with Danny Glover's character? I mean I do get that he is a ghost of a mountain man.

I'm watching the movie right now and that scene just happened. I don't know what his case is. He obviously was more than a spirit or part of the imagination because he pulled the Marshall character out of the river.
I think he's suppose to be left a mystery because he came into the story as a random mysterious hero who just happened to be at the river, and he leaves the story just as random as he entered it.
yeah that was such a shocker, I was like WHAT DANNY GLOVER??? lol he just popped outta nowehere. he was like a ghost shaman? I dunno but I loved the way he left "I aint got no TV....AAAHHAHAHAHA!" I do think his character added to the movie , glover is such a good convincing actor that even his tiny part about warning of bears was intense and even a bit scary.
Realism, Remakes and Unnecessary Sequels are ruining movies!
