after bobby got hit after the play , musberger goes ohh what a stupid play! that will put the mud dogs in field goal position! it looked like the late hit was at bout the opposing teams 45? so 15 yards for unecesary roughness/late hit would have put them on the 30, setting up a 47 yard fg attempt? but either way thay snapped the ball at the 45 yard line on last play? that wouldnt have been field goal postiton? would be a 62 yard fg attempt!? so either brent messed up sayin that or they forgot to move ball up 15 yards? either way soemone on set made an error?

Is it college or Canadian football that doesn't have the 10+ yards on field goal attempts?

Interesting post from a few years ago. I just saw this the other day and had the same thought.

If we want an in-universe explanation, I suppose we could say that the Mud Dogs declined the penalty offscreen to better set up their final game-winning play.

Hard to imagine that happening in real life...gotta love the suspension of disbelief!

here is a rational football explanation for what could have happened;

because play is stopped due to the Boucher injury, he should be ineligible for the next play. now they could have intentionally taken a penalty to allow Boucher to then become eligible.

During the KKK kick scene he was at the 50. So since he made that kick anything within that range was "field goal range".
