Be Very Afraid

The images of the super-macho FBI & ATF agents and National Guardsmen really got me thinking: these were heavily armed American men itching to kill other Americans. They got their wish, and they apparently got it legally.

I became quite unsettled if not downright terrified that this was going on long before 9/11. God only knows what they're capable of doing now, with the Patriot Act in place. The message one gets while watching this film is: don't try anything, or we'll get you. Don't get uppity, do what you're told, and you won't have problems. Isn't that what fascists do? Isn't that the central message we allegedly 'learned' from Nazi Germany?

These are children with guns who think they're mature adults, and they have a licence to kill. These are people playing real-life video games with pre-teen gusto. Because America is now at permanent war in various countries, it is training ever-new generations of professional killers who are only too willing to play Rambo under the law. Aren't Americans terrified by this? Or is it just another twisted version of 'truth, justice and the American way'?

I just watched this and I am shocked, and sad. It was like they couldn’t wait to kill these people, and when they did they didn’t seem to care. Nobody talked about the poor innocent babies that were murdered. How they wanted to torture these children to "wake their parents up" I cry and get sick just thinking about it. I also get sick when I see the government making excuses. Saying that they killed themselves just to protect Clinton. I am just so angry that something like this could happen in my country. I was young when this happend and very confused about it all, now I am just sickend.

Hmmm....no. Epic failure on every level. The men and women of the US armed forces, contrary to popular belief, are not evil bloodthirsty monsters hell-bent on death and destruction. I've served proudly for 6 years, and am planning on serving 14 more. You should be ashamed of yourselfs for spreading this hateful diatribe.
Waco was a tragedy. Korresh was a nutjob. It was over a decade in the past....let it go. America has much more important things to worry about.

reply

A whole decade? Beats me why anyone cares! I barely remember last week!

As a good citizen, it is my duty to forget everything and let the government take care of the important things.

reply

And that makes you a true Patriot Niffiwan. (turns off sarcasm)

You need to look up the Posse Comitatus Act (enacted 1878) because you will be ordered to violate that act in your next 14 years of service, "I was just following orders", has been used from the time of Rome, through Auschwitz-Birkenau and at Waco. "America has much more important things to worry about"; yes The Bill of Rights, FISA and a little thing called the Constitution.
With 20 years in you will be elegible for Tricare or VA care. There is a movie you should watch, "Article 99" (with Keifer Sutherland) it is about VA healthcare - except in real life there is no happy ending. I know I was a VA physician. By the way, I will never be ashamed of exercising my 1st Amendment rights.

reply

You're acting like these people were innocent...

So what were the children guilty of again? I missed that somewhere.

reply

How many times did they try to get the kids out of there? But the cult freak kept them in there. What should they do?They were out there for 51 days. They gave those people every chance.

So they should wait out in front of that compound for years?

The question is how long should you wait in front of ANY building to accomplish saving innocent lives.

Easy! As long as it takes.
Otherwise mission failed. Which WAS the case at Waco.

Nothin left to do but destroy incriminating evidence.

Had one of the 911 planes landed safely besides a hostage situation. Should we pump the plane full of tear gass for 6 hours and watch it burn to the ground with no fire control allowed?

Then destroy the plane with doziers and hual off all evidence before day 52 rolls around.

As far as Waco...
I wonder what was so terrible about day 52 that the FBI had to completely abandon a rescue operation and morph it into their worst public mistake in history topping the initial raid itself.

I never read about anyone randomly shooting farm animals. It seems the Davidians shot first. But I agree the ATF messed up. Once they lost the element of surprise then they should have just established a perimeter and began negotiations.Whoever continued to order that raid after that should have been fired. Koresh should have just surrendered instead of dragging it out. Its better to fight in court. Same thing with tickets, instead of fighting with the cop and getting tazed. Just fight it out in court. But some people have to act like morons.

Lay-off the capslock kid, did you even read THE book on war? If you did, you wouldn't shout to try to make a point.

reply

@je5752

Really good points. I find it amusing that the next argument in line is that 15 years old peoples have read the book. As if that changed anything about the points you're trying to make. As if a 15 years old can truly make the most out of reading the book.

What happened in Waco is just as a drop in the ocean. When I think about all the wrong-doings that happens on a daily-basis on this planet, I can't help but think about this quote from S.H.:

"The human race is just a chemical scum on a moderate-sized planet, orbiting around a very average star in the outer suburb of one among a hundred billion galaxies. We are so insignificant that I can't believe the whole universe exists for our benefit. That would be like saying that you would disappear if I closed my eyes."

My point is: we're here to stay. As much as you love your america, someday you will be dust and you will most certainly miss american imperialist downfall. I would love to be alive when it happens but I know I probably won't live that old.
