'What can only be described as Lava'

Horrible script is horrible.

reply

Yes because we expect a reporter covering a volcano in downtown L.A. to deliver lines like they were straight out of a Mark Twain novel.

Horrible journalism is horrible, regardless if real or fictional.
i actually saw an article last month that started something like this: "Finally 47 people were dead in a bus accident...."

Nice effects but YES, the script was HORRIBLE. How can no body no what Lava IS or looks like, I remember thinking that the whole time when I first saw it. DANTE'S PEAK is MILES above this.

Everyone's entitled to one good scare...

reply

You were thinking it the whole time when you first saw it because you knew you were going to see a movie called VOLCANO.

The fictional reporter in the fictional story that is this film, did however not expect to see a VOLCANO in the middle of Los Angeles. Hence we shouldn't expect any fictional reporter to act or speak like they had rehearsed this scenario in advance.

reply

That has honestly always been my impression of the dialogue in the film, a lot of it I saw more as an expression of disbelief than anything else.

Dante's Peak was not that great. Enjoyable, and good enough in a different way perhaps, but not that great.
