Annoying and hysterical

Does anyone else find this movie both hysterical and annoying? I mean the characters. Argh! I can't begin to start who's the most annoying or hysterical. Was it Kelly or Rachel or the lady who cried her dog trapped in her home or some officers still had time commenting about how heavy the painting they're trying to save.

I know those things do happen should the real thing occur but to put them up on screen is kind of annoying. Yeah, We know, as audience, the filmmakers need to create some kind of tension and conflicts to build up the suspense but those things were rather unnecessary. It's like pebble in the shoe or something. Extremely irritating.

I remember there was one other volcano disaster movie that opened the same time as this one and that was DANTE'S PEAK. So I went to see that one instead even though VOLCANO had all that INDEPENDENCE DAY feel about it. But let's be honest. This movie was definitely not INDEPENDENCE DAY.

But that's besides the point.

So even though DANTE'S PEAK was also pretty crappy at least I felt that it was the lesser of the two evils where VOLCANO is concerned and was much less annoying and hysterical.

Now that you mention Independence Day, I think they wanted to capture the feel of the Boomer scene in Independence Day when he jumps and escapes the impending explosion. It was an awesome scene. The scene in Volcano was just stupid. The dog wasn't even trapped, he was just barking and staying in the house like a moron. The stupid lady really just forgot to grab the dog on the way out.

The officers complaining about the museum paintings was a pretty funny scene. If you listen in on the dialogue, its pretty hilarious.

Give the dog a break. He was just trying to save his stuff.

The stuck up husband of the doctor (Norman Calder) was the WORST character!

Aaaaargh that was Aiden from sex and the city 😂😂😂 I love volcano, this is one of my fab cheesy disaster films.
Lots of people in here are from sex and the city, there's Aiden, the police man who plays my dildo!

COme on man, how can you not love a movie that has a trapped Fireman in his truck for what seems like forever, with other firefighters and people around fighting the fires and screaming and what not, but they ONLY go to save him right when the lava is seconds away which of course, was too late??? HAHAHA

Volcano is a really cheesy disater movie, but I tend to have a good time with it when I watch it. "That lake went up 6 degrees in an hour" - "It's a sunny day!" HAHA

Dante's Peak was far superior IMO and feels like a "real" disaster movie(so I own it) but Volcano, I'll dvr it or netflix it from time to time. I love massive lava and explosions in LA, and hey, some added corny race "morals" shoed in?? Why not....lol

Oh I travel, a sort of licenced troubleshooter.

You forgot the reporter watching the whole thing happening and not doing a damn thing to help.

You're just so right OP. Characters in disaster movies should keep their cool and not panic and act hysterically when staring into the faces of death and destruction. It's just so unrealistic and annoying isn't it?

This movie was definitely not INDEPENDENCE DAY.
Good heavens! Aliens invading Earth! No, I don't think it was.🐭
