Great humor

I have to admit although some parts of the story are not that clever, tricky, whatever, I loved the humor of this movie, especially the scenes with Bobby, TNT and Jenny.
It's so great when Jenny tries to start this conversation with Bobby (the Patsy Cline thing) and you can see his reaction to her action and then Jenny's jealous boyfriend TNT shows up and tries to threaten Bobby. It's such a well-written dialogue when Bobby is asking "Is everyone in this town on drugs?" and than Toby N Tucker explains why he is called TNT, claiming that he has never taken any drugs and Bobby answers something like "Maybe you should!"
I think that Claire Danes, Joaquin Phoenix and Sean Penn had some wonderful acting chemistry during these scenes and it seemed to me that they had fun shooting this scene (Yeah, I know what Sean Penn said about working with Oliver Stone, but this particular scene in the "diner" just had to be an exception).
Did you also like it, or which other funny scenes, quotes did you enjoy?

I really really liked the scene when Sean Penn is going to get his car back at the end and he starts by telling Billy Bob (something like): "40 000 people die every minute on this planet, why can't you be one of 'm?"

I saw it for the first time today and I liked it. It's not super, but it's a nice movie. And, I don't know wether this was intentional, often hilarious.

Yeah that was a well written scene in terms of dialogue. The "Maybe you should" was a great retort.

And DM-DAAN picked another favourite of mine in the "why can't you be one of them" - which is obviously all the more relevant for the way Billy Bob's character has been portrayed in the earlier stages of the movie.

just watched it for the first time and i thought Jon Voight(sp?) had the funniest role in the whole movie. just lookin at him in the movie i couldn't help but laugh, plus i thought he had some pretty good lines too. like at the end where Bobby has his last talk with him and Bobby says something like "I'll see ya around old timer" when he leaves and Voight just kinda scoffs and says "Your lies are old........buuuut you tell 'em well." all in all i thought it was a great movie with a great sense of humor and a pretty good cast(tied with "State of Grace" as my favorite Sean Penn role). with that said, Jennifer Lopez was TERRIBLE in this movie. i can't lie i did like seein her t i t s, but that was her only redeeming factor in this movie.

Ahh i loved this film. I'll admit i only wanted to watch this film cos i heard J.Lo does a sex scene in it (ok come on i was 17!). But no, i too loved the humour there was in this film. My favourite funny moment other than the ones kylen reyna has mentioned were when bobby is trying to sell darrell his designer watch to get darrell to fix his car or something like that. Darrell make a comparison with bobbys watch to his and says, "that's not a watch, look at mine it says the day and date on it and it even has numbers!" Booby, pissed off with this remark then goes on to say "it doesn't have to be you moron it's a designer watch this watch is worth hundreds of dollars!" That really got me laughing because darrell has a point about all these expensive designer watches that come out these days when a £20 watch which tell you the time, day and date are really all a person needs.

Penn trying to sell Thornton his watch was my favorite part of the whole movie.
