Why would anyone watch Truman's boring life?

Why do people watch all these so called reality shows anyway?
Voyeurism?
I suppose there's a thrill in knowing all about someone and legally being privy to every detail without being charged as a peeping tom...or worse.

It's also so incredibly invasive that it's hard to imagine a world where everyone would sit back and let someone be sacrificed to that life as thoroughly as Truman is...

It was like watching a family sitcom...only it was a reality.

I have to agree. If the plot contrivances hadn't happened, and everyone being so stupid, this would just be a boring show about someone's really repetitive, routine-filled, unimaginative life. He doesn't even do anything creative, no pixel art, animations, music, painting, synthesizer madness.. anything.

He just goes to work and lives with his advertising wife he doesn't even like and talks to the mirror. That's about it.

After you've seen it a couple of times, you probably wouldn't bother watching much more of it.

They want to see if he figures out he's trapped on a TV show and escapes!
