Truman Show (Re-cut) Showing No Audience
Is there a truman show version out there that's recut to exclude all outside personalities. So the ending is a twist. You only see the movie through Truman's POV?

sharegreat idea. a lot darker but more true to life. i hope someone makes one, if not i will make one myself. would it be better without audience AND without Ed Harris scenes? so it will be more true to life if this was real and even if you worked all this stuff out you never really know why?

shareok i will do it. i have been having a look through it and it seems it will be fairly easy to cut out the audience clips but the Ed Harris/Control room scenes not so easy, especially towards the end as it cuts between truman and ed harris a lot, very quickly in the final sailing sequence, plus it has the hard score over the top so cutting a lot out will make the score out of sync.
What I will do is, cut out all audience scenes so throughout (and after the end) you don't know what the external world is like when he goes through the exit, I will limit the Ed Harris scenes to a minimum, maybe just bring them in for the final 3rd of the film, I will cut truman's catchphrase.....and I will ad a darker, more modern/indie grade to emulate what it would look like if it was released today.
I think the final conversation between truman and Ed Harris should be kept, but somehow hiding Ed Harris face.
I dont do video editing, but I wish there was a way to have all his dialogue to Truman come from the clouds. maybe sync his voice to footage of the sky or something
Since Truman Does talk to him, it should not be deleted. their conversation from Truman's point of view is really scary too, since he is talking to "God" basically.
What about the scenes of people looking for Truman? will you leave those in? those scenes do not make sense if you take out the Control room scenes.

ok i finished editing it. it was a lot bigger job than i thought as far as making the cuts blend together with the score to a professional level, especially the sailing scenes but i continued with it anyway and have got to a standard where you can't tell it wasn't made this way in my opinion.
i have cut all audience out, all control room scenes out and made it so you don't see ed harris's face at all. Due to the scenes where they discover he has escaped during sleep all being from the control room's point of view I have had to make a sequence that makes it look like it's all played out just via computer monitors this one time.
I have kept in the scenes of people looking for him as by the time that happens you know that someone is watching him that are actually in on it but you don't really know who or why so it adds to the mystery.
I have kept some of the dialogue at the end, but I have cut it like he's talking to god ie i removed the part about him being the star of a tv show. I think this ending and cut in general is more emotional than the real version.
I'm just doing the modern grade and then i'll export it and put it up somewhere for you to download probably today or tomorrow depending how long it takes to export as there's a lot going on in the timeline.
