The show must have been boring as sin the first couple of years.

Having cameras on an infant, who doesn't do anything except eat, cry, sleep and sht, 24 hours a day lol?

Sounds boring! I suppose they focused on the family at that point as well, not just truman sleeping.

At some point, the show was probably like, "Leave It To Beaver" and then turned into, "Happy Days."

Hi Boy ;-), I think the show was in the beginning not only about Truman. There are many actors arround him. And of course, that's what people love to see. Children growing up. Okay, it's not their children, but if you follow a time, it will feel like.

It was and it is quite dull, stupid and bad idea for a show (and even stupider for a movie about that show). Basically that show would be about those dull things even in adulthood, eating, shaving his beard, "shting", going work and watching him to write something etc. for 7 hours a day. Then coming home and some boring housework before sleeping. Even more pointless and boring than Big Brother.

This show would be boring as hell when he was an adult. What makes "reality" shows interesting is that they show some sort of conflict or something new. Basically all Truman did was go to work and come home. Seriously who would watch that all day? His wife and his buddy showing him new products was basically all he did in his free time. Sure you could probably take a whole week and cut it into an hour show but 24/7 of what Truman did would be so mundane. Like I am going to tune into see him drive to work and listen to the radio or tell his neighbors good morning.

My Question is why did they just have Truman? Why choose just one kid? Wouldn't it be better to have a bunch of kids and have more than one story to tell?

the funny thing is that there are literally a lot of cameras filming in real life all over the world and people will sit to watch them for hours and hours.

There are websites that have cam video feedback, cameras from different cities or restaurants or parks, beaches, etc. And sometimes there are up to 200 people watching for hours.

or what about sex web cams where girls talk to people for up to 6 hours, some cams have up to 2000 viewers. the girls are not even doing anything, they are just nude and talking to guys, people not only watch these girls night after night but they send money....
cam girl is a huge business..... thousands of guys watch every day.

you are pretty stupid if you dont think a 24 hour show would not be a big hit

The appeal would be that you can turn it on anytime you want and turn it off anytime you want. If it was structured as a normal show with distinct episodes, no one would ever watch half an hour of a baby sitting around crying. But if anyone bored at home could flip on the Truman Show for a few minutes and zone out, they would get addicted in the long run. Lots of bars and restaurants would have it playing in the background just in case something interesting happens. People would use it as generic background noise for any event or to fall asleep to.

After years of casually watching it, I bet a lot of people would become really invested. If something interesting started going on, they would give all their friends a call to tell them to turn it on. If they were having a stressful day, they would turn on the show to find something familiar and comfortable to relax to.
