She is a "sex worker" but not really a prostitute.
I think we'd have to come up with or find a new term for her since she is doing more than just having sex with him and is being an actress.

In the "documentary" they made for the movie one of the interview questions hinted that she was paid for each sex act. She got pissed and said it wasn't an approved question and refused to answer.
shareIt's a bit of a harsh question. Consider this, there are 100's of actors on the set and it is only Truman himself who is not in on the fact it's a reality show. So with that in mind its possible that Truman could find a partner amongst the other actors. Now I have only seen this film once a long time ago, and would need to re-watch it to give this question a n answer in the context of the movie setting.
