Al's car is often referred to as a Custom Cruiser or '1955 Ford Mystere' from which it was possibly influenced by, however I have the Dorling Kindersley book 'Toy story -the essential guide' (featuring Toy Story 2) and it refers to Al's Car model as a '1958 Acorn' that he has owned for 30 years.

There does not appear to be a scrap of evidence that this was the designated model name given to car by the films creators so does this mean DK publishing just make stuff up as they go along?

Any pointers to solid information on the Pixars creators real model name for Al's car?

I just assumed it was Pixar's version of a '59 Cadillac. I checked imcdb.org, and they list it as a 1955 Ford Mystere - a car I have never heard of, and I am a big car enthusiast. I mean, I'm an enthusiast of big cars. And I'm big. And I'm a big enthusiast of cars.

The '1958 Acorn' is a new one, for me. I was never aware of it, until now.

Sorry that I couldn't offer any solid answers, but thank you for introducing me to cars that I would never have heard of.

No problem drunkbear. Almost can guarantee a '1958 Acorn' was never a real car, The question is did DK just make up some info to slot into the page? I would like to think if DK is creating a reference book (and they knock out a few) that all info is concise, correct and valided by the official source. If they are just creating odd content here and there I would think their entire body of work is of less value. Trivial stuff but a principle is involved.
