All the mail lost when the ship sank.
Such a tragedy.
shareIt was at best unreadable and undeliverable.
shareNot to mention all the perfectly good food and alcohol.

Hmm... sources say many bottles of alcohol could have survived the wreck to this day .
A BOTTLE OF TITANIC BOOZE WOULD FETCH A FORTUNE!
shareWhat would you pay for a snifter of brandy recovered from the wreck? I have a figure in mind.
I DON'T DRINK...BUT I BET MOST PEOPLE WOULD PAY A LOT!

I'm thinking I would without hesitation pay $500 a pop for my wife and I to share a brandy from a bottle from the Titanic.
With hesitation? More, maybe a lot more - I'd have to think about it.
I wonder how much of it would still be drinkable after 112 years. But even if it wasn't, it would still be worth a lot, just for the novelty of owning it.

My understanding (and I'm no expert) is that an unopened bottle of brandy can survive that long and longer if it's kept airtight, cool, and out of direct light. It was definitely kept cold and out of any light at least.
In that case, I'm putting my name on the list for a bottle when they're available.
shareIf I found some brandy and put it in an old bottle that looks like it had been covered in sand since 1912 would you buy it? You would never really know for sure.

No joke:
The mail clerks were among the first casualties. They thought the ship might make it at first and tried to save the mail and get it out of the flooding compartment. They were overwhelmed by the incoming sea water.
