The Obvious Subject Line: The Ending
I really enjoyed this and then that secondary ending happened. Endings are killers for so many movies and it was for this one as well. I won't give any spoilers, but the final twenty minutes, leading up to the fade to black, was some of the most riveting and heartfelt moments I've seen. It was ruined however for the need to add to the ambiguity (I'm only saying that, because of what others have said....I personally feel the second ending is very telling and almost a sellout).
One of the things I cannot understand about the film's criticism is the "why?" That is the entire point of the movie. Why? Any question that arises in the movie is responded to with a why? Isn't it odd that the main character is so filled with questions, but not with answers? The essence of the movie is "why?" The ending took away from this, because it distracted us from this.
Overall it's a good, not great movie, all because I kept watching the final 3-4 minutes asking "Why?" but for a completely different reason than I had the first hour and half.
