Don't you think that...

Didn't you think that 'Suburbia' seemed to be the inspiration of the greenday music video in which the kid is shoplifting throughout the store and what not? It looked much like the same set and the same style and all.

'I realized how we were getting off on being in a car ten feet longer than thee others.'

Which Green Day video is that?

When I first saw this movie I remember thinking that Jeff looked like Billie Joe Armstrong and I thought Buff looked like Tre Cool.

I don't remeber the music video, to tell you the truth it was for a soundtrack... Was greenday on the soundtrack?

Yeah, he looks alottttttttt like him.

reply

I think you are thinking about Smashing Pumpkins's "1979" video

reply

its either that Smashing Pumpkins video or a Sonic youth video, since they did alot of the soundtrack.

The video is Jesus of Suburbia. This movie did remind me a lot of the music video and Giovanni and Billie Joe do kind of look alike. I wonder if they did get any inspiration from the movie.

Dearly beloved, are you listening?

reply

i never really saw the resemblence...

but it's not likely that iheartspam4eva was talking about the 'jesus of suburbia' video becasue american idiot wasnt even released until september 21, 2004 (am i wrong?) and the post was written on august 2, 2004.

not that it's a big deal or anything... i just think that the origional post might be about different video. but i've not seen the video for Jesus of Suburbia, though. now i'm curious.

Dearly beloved, are you listening?

reply

YES. I completely agree with the Billie Joe/Giovanni resemblance. Actually, everytime I saw Jeff I couldn't stop remarking how much he looked like Billie in the When I Come Around video, and his mannarisms, very Billie Joe-esque.

I just saw that Jesus of Suburbia Video and couldn't help but think of how easily this story could be translated into a feature length film.
The characters setting and situations depicted in the video show depth in the small amount of time they are on screen, and the acting was impressive.
Does any one else feel this way about this video?

reply

The whole Jesus Of Suburbia storyline IS being made into a movie, a treatment has been written already and is based on the whole American Idiot album =)
