there is a scene where tim and jeff are talking, and tim quotes someone, the quote being: 'the greatest men are the most alone' or something along those lines. i just wanted to know if anyone knows who he is quoting...

Probably a Bogosian original, or a Nicky Katt if he was allowed to improv. It also sounds like something Linklater would say, he's always philosophisising ala Waking Life.

"the greatest men are the most alone." - Henry Chianski.
Chianski is a fictional character in many Bukowski books. But I think the quote is from his book, "Women". It's a good read.
