Why kill off [spoiler]?
Why kill off Conrad (Spike Jonze)? He had to die, or there’d have been 4 kings.
These are but my opinions, and they who disagree are free to dine on dung with chopsticks.
It was done to show that war has its casualties and to highlight the character's change of heart regarding the Iraqis. At the start of the film, he's dropping anti-Arab slurs. In his final scene, he's asking to be buried in one of their sacred tombs.
