Tom Berenger

Would have been a nice fit for Archie Gates, eh?

Maybe, he was brilliant in Platoon but unfortunately he'd been relegated to Direct-to-Video films by then.

Just looked at the trivia section and apparentely David O. Russell originally had Clint Eastwood in mind for Gates, which sounds pretty ridiculous given how old he was by that time, if he was an officer he would have been a Colonel or a General, or if not he'd be a Sergeant Major. In both cases he'd be unlikely to take a few soldiers on a rogue operation, and in any case he'd be retired from the military.

Agreed. The trivia section intrigues me, btw. Bridges and Nolte? Holy cow, man, those are some of my favs.

The IMDB trivia section doesn't always get it right. It claims...

"In the scene where the three soldiers enter the secret room in the bunker with the stolen stuff and TV sets in it, you can see Capt. Said (Saïd Taghmaoui) watch the opening credits of the French movie La Haine (1995) on a screen. That was the first real movie he had a role in, also under his real name Said."....

It's a mistake. He is actually watching the Rodney King beating footage. I'm a big fan of La Haine, and especially of Saïd Taghmaoui's performance, but I don't remember La Haine being shown in that film. Just a pointer.

"You're a big man, but you're in bad shape. With me it's a full time job. Now behave yourself."
