Todd McFarlane's New 'Spawn' Movie News

I copied this from a Movie news site:

On Tuesday, the creator of the Spawn comic book series told MTV it’s his “big wish” to have Leonardo DiCaprio play the lead in a new Spawn movie. Yes, that's Leonardo DiCaprio.

McFarlane wants the three-time Oscar nominee to take a hiatus from working with the best directors in the business (Scorsese, Mendes, Nolan, Spielberg) to play a cop chasing an anti-hero “hellspawn” through the streets. A movie McFarlane has said he wants to direct and script, despite having no experience in either field. What’re you waiting for, DiCaprio? More crazy ideas?

Well, here they are. When McFarlane discussed the reboot in July 2007, he wanted to erase the memory of the awful 1997 Spawn. His plan was to make the character a shadowy figure rarely seen on screen that doesn’t talk, comparing the reboot to Jaws. He also wanted the story to be “terrific” like Oscar winner Crash. Now he’s saying it will be more like The Godfather with a moving figure in the background. Next he’s going to claim it’s just like Slumdog Millionaire, only with demons.

McFarlane says a story where a CIA agent dies, goes to hell, makes a deal with the devil himself, and returns to Earth as a hellspawn with super powers is “not a big special-effects movie; it’s a character movie.” In that case, sign DiCaprio up. He certainly needs another character movie.
