I think in hindsight Ebert was a little on the generous side. I watched this last week for the first time in about 10 years, and although I have a bit of a soft spot for it as I loved it back when I was 12, it is pretty shockingly bad. Some of the CGI still looks pretty good, but a lot hasn't aged well at all. The best things about it are the suit and the soundtrack.

I was just reading Ebert's review from his website, and he freaking loved Spawn. Gave it 3 1/2, even compared the visuals to Blade Runner! I didn't remember him liking it so much.

I'm the furthest thing from being a film snob, but Ebert was way, way, way, generous with his review.
