Alex Proyas, the guy who directed the first Crow movie with Brandon Lee, should direct the new Spawn film from a script written by Todd McFarlane. Alex Proyas has demonstrated that he can do a dark movie, and with Todd McFarlane writing the script we know that the movie will be close to the comics. Guillermo Del Toro can produce. I think that would be a great team.
shareI agree, Del Toro would be awesome to help reinvision the film, but I think he'd be too busy with his other films (Hellboy, Hobbit, Pinocchio, etc.)
I think Spawn actually need a gory treatment.
And that is not Alex Proyas.
I was thinkin' maybe Rob Zombie or Zack Snyder or Robert Rodriguez.

that was soo nauseatingly sickening. He should rip people apart with those chains not use machine guns. anyways well see. Spawn has the possibility of becoming one of the coolest super hero movies out there if treated right.
I think Proyas or Snyder could be a good choice.

I was going to start a thread about a new film until i saw yours. Well with the recent super hero blockbusters of late (more in 2012) i think this in the capable hands of the right director will do well. They could even make a 3D version to go with it as they always do. If it gets good reviews then i will go see it. Fingers crossed then eh?
