The clown was absolutely disgusting. I wanted Spawn to torture him and kill him slowly.

That is the intended opinion and reaction that the clown is suppose to convey in the audience, which is just a nod to John Leguizamo's excellent portrayal.

just a really cheap and pathetic production... the 'clown' was the worst villain I've ever seen in a superhero movie.
