In the championship game, the Huskies had the ball down by 2 with 10 secs left. They threw away the in-bounds pass and did not foul. Then, the shot clock was some how at 5 when Kenny stole the ball. Other than that, great movie.
they dont show those five seconds ticking away when they're playing defense. the clock had gone down five after the inbounds thats why its on five seconds when kenny stole it
In terms of the original post, yes you are correct the shot clock should not have reset. The game clock was still accurate though, so even though it's a small hole I don't mind it so much.
If you want to go into semi-plot holes I think I have to mention that Zigi in the early club scene is only 5 to 6 inches taller than the girls in the club, at the same time as mentioning he is 7 feet tall. The actor is probably no more than 6 foot 4.
prpaclt - There is a rule in non-NBA basketball called '5 second held ball.' Which prevents the same player from holding the ball for too long without doing anything with it. If he didn't pass he would have been called for a violation. I am a former high school level referee. You have 5 seconds to hold the ball while dribbling as well as 5 seconds to hold the ball while not dribbling, total 15 seconds maximum by the same player (if you hold for 5 seconds, dribble for 5, then hold for 5 more). You are not allowed to dribble or hold the ball for more than 5 consecutive seconds. It is a essentially an alternate version of a shot clock.
