What would she be doing now?

I think she would have very succesful in the English-language market, with a couple more Grammys to her name , possibly duets with other great singers maybe even a Spanish-French duet with Celine Dion, possibly also Christina Aguilera and Carrie Underwood, Selena was very versitile. She could have gone into acting as well maybe even a movie co-starring with JLO( That would be interesting)

Now as for the down-side of fame I wonder if she would have gone the road so many other stars have: Could she have become a "diva" in the worst sense kind of like Mariah Carey would she have left Chris for a "hot young stud" kind of like Mariah And Jennifer Lopez? Would she have remembered her roots where she came from? Kind of like the way Celine Dion has?

Selena was very versatile and I do believe 100% that she would have done something with Celine Dion, maybe Tina Tuner, Definitely Christina Aguilera and even Janet Jackson.

As far as the downside goes, I think anything could have happened. That's what I always think about had she survived. Many, including her family have said that she would have definitely been on her way to fame. But only a few stars like Celine Dion and maybe even Selena Gomez have always kept a very good reputation in public and behind closed doors, which Selena did a very good job of. The only exception was when Selena shared in an interview that she used to spit gummy bears into people's hair during school time. But other than that, she kept a good conduct. I don't think she'd leave Chris though. That's something I can't see happening.

Cool thanks your response i agree with what you said ,but couldn't you see her doing movies? and starring with Jennifer Lopez???

I could definitely see her doing movies. If she could portray her deepest feelings on stage, I'm sure she could in movies. I read an article where she said she could not picture herself being a bad guy though.

Hard to say if she would have been like Shakira's caliber or more like a Thalia. Her songs were good but some of them are dated now, if not, mostly all of them.

Who knows because she was took from us

I would have been so here for this!!! I think she would have continue to record more english and spanish albums simultaneously like Gloria Estefan and Shakira.

Eh...I realize I'm a Mariah fan speaking here so I may be biased but Mariah isn't that bad. She didn't really turn into a diva in the sense we think of here in now until after she had divorced her husband, it was sort of an evolution. Also that was a very different situation than JLO's as Tommy Mottola was much older than her. She met and married Nick Cannon years later after being with a few men closer to her age. Also I don't do much of the fandom stuff but she seems really sweet and is connected with her fans.

As for JLO, I'm not a huge fan of hers but I like her. Anyway I'm not sure her situation is as cut and dry as all that either and I'm actually more of a fan of Marc Anthony than her. But I get what you're saying.

I think Selena would have stayed mostly grounded. Could there have possibly been some kind of minor scandal? Sure, but she probably wouldn't have strayed too far from her base. It's possible that she would have gotten accused of selling out and having to go back to her "latin roots" but she didn't seem like the type to be pressured into doing anything too far away from what she wanted to do. You never know. And Selena and Chris seemed to be genuinely in love. I realize it was still early on in their relationship, but if they split I think it would have been fairly amicable. Like maybe they would have actually just grown apart.

After her successful crossover, I definitely think she would have gotten into movie roles. She'd be something like JLO, except without some of the race neutral roles. I think there would have been some very different and interesting roles created for Selena or given the green light because of her popularity.

I think it would have been fun to see Selena and J.Lo do a movie together

Something you must consider though is J.Lo's rise to fame was largely because of her portrayal of Selena. Who knows where J.Lo would be if Selena hadn't died.

I totally agree with this which is why i am going to say I think J.lo took selena's place. I am saying that if selena was alive. she would've accomplished everything J.lo did and there would've been no j.lo.

selena would've starred in some movies and she probably would've gotten an offer to do american idol just like j.lo did. i can see them wanting selena to do american idol because she is a very witty and charismatic person.

I've read several things that said she was already ready to get back into the studio to record another Spanish album, even before her English one was released, so she wouldn't alienate her fans.

Considering she was unbelievably popular when she died and she lived in a regular neighborhood with no security fence, because she wanted to stay close to her fans, and she'd stay until every last person had gotten their autographs and she'd go to schools to stay close to her community (things I remember hearing before her death, not after, which is when you hear only great things about people), I really don't think the fame would've gotten to her head.

My friend and I went to one of her concerts in 93? I don't really remember the date, but at the end of it, we stayed to get autographs. My friend and I were in the back and it took almost an hour to get an autograph, but she waited the entire time. Still have the shirt and picture she signed in my living room.
My aunt was also good friends with her since High School. After she became famous, she came to one of the block parties my aunt was throwing. No security, no fancy clothing, no diva attitude. If she was as sweet as can be then, I doubt fame would have changed her.

That proved how absolutely wonderful she was.

I don't think any of that would have happened. She might have made a brief blip with Dreaming of You but otherwise she would have remained a Tejano mainstay like Emilio or those "roses" guys.

She would be a mom. :-( So sad to hear that part of the film where she tells her own mother that she and Chris want to start a family.

I love her voice and think she could have had a long diverse career. Definitely collaborating with other singers. Maybe she'd get a long stay Vegas show like Celine Dion did. Her fashions could have taken off too. I think that was a very good business situation - to be a glamorous and famous singer then design her own clothes too. So many designers want to have stars wear their stuff, but Selena had all that marketing power in her own hands.

No, I don't think she would just remained exclusively in the tejano market. You're talking to someone who had express fondness for different kinds of music. She had dabble a little into R&B and rock in her music. I think she would have concentrated on expanding and gaining more markets. She would probably be switching between English and Spanish albums because that was the kind of artist she was. She liked being versatile and trying out new things.

Nice 2 laugh, but don't be the joke.👎✋

She would've definitely made bank in the Latin boom of the late 1990s, then she would've tried acting. Presently she would've either become an American Idol judge or involved in some sort fo reality show.

I think there could've been a successful movie career too. Even her appearance was versatile.

She was also very compassionate, taking Yolanda to the hospital for a false rape story despite the thefts. Perhaps along the lines of what Angelina Jolie is doing with the UN by now. And a constant connection with communities throughout her life.
