The real issue is what would humans do to the planet if we have free and unlimited energy. All the new waste heat we'd be producing would turn the planet into a cinder extremely quickly. We're kind of dumb that way.

Make smaller and more powerful bombs. Free and unlimited energy? Yea like scientists thought was going to happen with nuclear energy. Thin again.
