Val Kilmer cutting his forhead

There is a scene after he leaves Elizabeth Shue at the restaurant where he cuts his head right above his hairline. I remember reading that he really cut his head for this sequence, but it seems more likely to be be fake blood, of course.

I have seen the movie many times since it is my favorite of all time, but have never noticed his cut later in the movie. There's a scene in Russia when he is checking out of the hotel and orders a drink. If you look closely in this scene, you can see the cut. You cannot see it in any other scenes except the ones right after he cuts himself.

This really makes me think that he really did cut himself. If it was makeup, it was barely noticeable and nowhere else in the movie. Anyone have input on this?

You do see the dried cut quite a bit in close ups for scenes following in that particular time setting. It wasn't just forgotten about. I have no idea whether he really cut himself or not. Seriously, I hope he didn't.🐭
